Mom, I don't think Huckabee would agree with your views on Amendment 2.

"I think Huckabee likes everyone. He has a new show on Sunday evening. Its awesome and he plays his guitar at the end. He will never be president because of his religion, but he rocks. Did you vote early? Not me. Oh well....love you."

I love my mom - she cracks me up. I sent her an email about Amendment 2...

"Yes...I did plan on voting no on #2..
And yes, I am voting for McCain.
I know my children are voting for Obama.
I won't try and sway your vote.
I saw this trend towards socialism way back when starting when you kids were in school.
No longer will people want to achieve to the highest as we will all accept that everyone
is in the middle. " The dumbing of America, so to speak..." It is very
insidious and the buzz word "change" has worked for his campaign thus far.
Unfortunately, too many people think that when we coronate the prince our lives will be
wonderful..follow the pied piper. I will respect him when he becomes our president, but I
do believe when the "honeymoon" is over people will begin to see.It will be scary.
I do not believe that the people in England or France will tell you that socialism
is working for them. I do though have respect for my kids and your view and I am proud
that you are all individuals and are able to have your own minds and speak up for what
you believe in.Anyway...love you.Mom...btw...I am not thrilled totally for McCain
either...I wish Huckabee would have won."

Fox News Headline & intro: Probe: Palin 'Abused Her Power'- Ethics inquiry concludes Palin was 'proper and lawful' in firing a state commissioner but failed to keep her husband from meddling in trooper's discipline.

I might not have a friend after this post...but hey - if she finds it reasonable to circulate redonkulous wonderment like this on MySpace (It's MY Space, and it's a Space for fun!), I figure it's fair game to mock on my own blog.

Of course, I am ultimately angry that intelligent, fun, cool people (my friends) 1) are allowing themselves to be used politically by a movement without a smidgen of integrity, and 2) that they do not see the humor in what I am about to re-post.

Good luck.

National Biscuit [Sep. 9th, 2008|05:46 pm]
I am obsessed with National Biscuit. I want to make a movie about National Biscuit.

This wikipedia article is seriously cracking me up; it is the funniest thing I have ever read.

"In January 2007, Cream of Wheat was sold to B&G Foods."

Fade to black. What a denouement.

P.S. I am reading a book on economics and humor is the only way I can survive.

P.P.S. It's actually a pretty great book. But still...National Biscuit?

Current Life Theme Song [Sep. 1st, 2008|04:39 pm]
I went back to school. Grad school. I work full time...am taking three classes, at night. Am also working at school as a requirement of my assistantship. I do not know how I am doing this, but so far it is working. "The Final Countdown" is playing in my head. If I complete this challenge, I will be the winner. Forever.

um [Aug. 27th, 2008|09:59 pm]
Why are pollsters Rasmussen and Zogby political commentators on the Shawn Hannity Show? One would hope that the heads of the most influential polling companies would find talk show commentating a little ethically dubious? No? How are these people allowed to run companies whose data influences elections and at the same time express an opinion on an election? Forgive me if this has been going on for a while - I don't have cable.

Best quotes from my grandfather - gathered this past saturday while visiting [Aug. 24th, 2008|08:55 am]
1. "I'm an isolationist."

2. "It's the easiest thing in the world to build a house!"

3. "That's the best one we got." (referring to a knee-high stuffed pony that, when switched on, whinnies and says 'high ho, Silver', in comparison to another smaller mechanical toy pony)

I don't consider myself a prude, but...do volleyball champs (specifically, female Olympic volleyball champs) have to wear skimpy bikinis? Can that really be an advantage? I think some sort of bicycle short would be more comfortable. I hate sandy tanned ass-cheeks...I hate camel toe, I hate nipples popping out of lycra - OMG one of them just picked out a wedgie. How is this Olympic? Ew. She did it again.

Boston! [Aug. 8th, 2008|06:53 pm]
I am posting this to the attention of [info]absinthetic and [info]wee_squirrel

"Hey everybody!
I found out last week that everything is set for me to go back to Tufts. So I'm moving to Boston in two weeks.

I'm super excited and I'm super happy to have the chance to go back and finish my degree.

So, I have two weeks to see everyone, say my goodbyes, pack up and go.
Send me a message or give me a call to hook up!
Also, I need a place to live and a job.
If anyone has any Boston connections PLEASE hook me up!
-Ginger"

Ginger is the only girl I hang out with in Tampa. She is my bestest buddy. Do you two know of any sublets or jobs available? She has a high IQ and is very cute.

House Advice [Aug. 4th, 2008|12:09 pm]
Though it burns me, I realize I won't have 400 thousand dollars anytime soon. Or the means to borrow it. But I want to work towards that. Maybe my 10 year plan, as outlined a few entries ago, can work. I just have to keep those people in that house until then. If it passes hands, who knows what could happen. There are two deeds; the land could be easily divided.

I spoke with my mortgage broker today...apparently banks are totally still making investment loans. The housing market here still has a year or two left before it bottoms. If I can save every extra penny until then, I can easily get a loan on a small investment property - a studio or condo. By that time, Tim will be out of school, I'll be almost done with my Master's, and I can really start building something. I'm dedicated to a career in nonprofit, so I really don't think I can rely on salary income to carry me through life. I'll have to be a landlord.

If anyone is thinking of buying a first home, Bush just passed something that gives first-time home buyers a $7,500 property tax credit.

I also want to open a roadside barbeque shack.

Yesterday, I finally took up Mr. Charlie Ricketts on his invitation to have me stop by my old Myakka house. I'd stopped by before, but no one was home. Which was good, because I was timid. Yesterday, however, I was feeling a little bold, so, out we went. Charlie and his wife were real nice; they invited us inside and let us look all around. Everything was exactly the same. Same carpet, same tile, same refrigerator. Same bedroom fan, same unfinished upstairs studio, same plywood walls. Oh god. Twenty years, and they had kept it up so nice...I've never wanted something so bad in my entire life. It is for sale (unofficially), but I am in no position to buy 12 acres of land. I worked it out - even if my salary were doubled, I wouldn't have enough. Maybe in 5 years...friends, if you would like to begin a commune, please consider this place. And please give me 400 thousand dollars, quickly.
